Burlap Signs

I have a new favorite craft project! I recently bought something like this for a gift for a friend on etsy. She actually registered for it! Who even knew you could register on etsy.com? Love it! Anyway, I was trying to think of a gift for some dear friends of mine hosting a baby shower for us and couldn't get the burlap sign out of my head. You know where this is going!

So.... here is out final product! Love how they turned out! I found the tutorial on pinterest somewhere and modified it with different designs!

Drop Cloth Curtains

Our dining room, like the rest of the house, has been a work in progress. Baby steps! While in search of some furniture the first little project I was able to tackle was curtains. Our ceilings are atad high so we need long curtains. Somewhere in between the standard and the long length. I stumbled across various drop cloth curtains on none other then pinterest as a solution to any length curtains. For just $25 plus a curtain rod and rings, I could have some brand new beautiful curtains at the perfect height. Not to mention this took all of half an hour and did not involve any sewing.

I purchased 2 canvas drop cloths from Home Depot and used a bottle of craft glue. First I ironed both drop cloths. Then I laid them out and measured the length I wanted.

 Knox loves to help!

I folded over the remainder of the fabric to create a lip at the top of the curtains.

I used clip rings to hang the curtains from the top. It's a little hard to see the lip from this picture but I promise it looks good! Overall, another super easy and inexpensive project I would recommend!

Fabric and Feather Boutonneires

Some of you may remember the fabric flower bouquet I recently completed (if you call May recently). I finally finished the boutonnieres to match! The flowers are the same process and the feather and burlap were inspired from some wedding crafts she did herself. I think they turned out quite nicely!

 All of them together!

Close up! I hope she likes them :)

My dream craft room...

I am dying to have a craft room. Mainly so I don't have to put up and take out all of my materials which takes more time than some of the projects! For those of you that think I'm crazy, just look at this room. So amazing and resourceful! A girl can dream, right?

I'm envisioning a much smaller version in my near future... think craft closet!

A LOT more realistic... kinda! I would love it!

Bridal Shower Decorations

I am at a point in life that is just so fun! So many of my friends have/are getting married. Berkley is one of my best friends and tying the knot oh so soon. For her bachelorette party I DIYed some decorations that I think are perfect for many showers!

The first is a simple banner sign. I used some supplies I had on hand and a few things I picked up at the dollar store - twine, clothespins, and colored cardstock. First I cut the standard blue sheet in half. From those I determined the size I wanted the letters to be, leaving some room at the top for the clothespins. I traced, cut, and taped the letters to the half sheets of cardstock. Once we arrived, I hung the twine and attached the letters with the clothespins. How cute would this be for a baby shower?

Another party project is the tissue paper pom poms. So simple! I cannot take credit for these, thank you Martha Stewart! It is so easy and cheap (Dollar Tree is the best). You can find instructions here!

These can work for just about any theme!

Hope these give you a little inspiration for any party planning you may be doing!

Mod Podge Letters

I love mod podge! In college we used it all the time for different projects. This one bottle has lasted me forever and still has a lot more projects to go. Recently I made decopodged LOVE letters with some scrapbook paper I had laying around. These letters came from Hobby Lobby, just so happened to have a gift card (Thanks Emma!).

I traced the letters onto the back of the paper and cut it out with a 1/4 inch border to wrap around the edges. First you generously paint on the mod podge and then put the paper on top. Coat the gluey mixture on top of the paper and edges too. This can be a little messy. Then let it dry and you're done!

Here they are all done and hanging on my skid pallet shelf in our bathroom! Love the LOVE!

Burlap Wine Bag

Over the last few months, I have discovered TONS of blog projects made with burlap. There are just so many possibilities, who would have thought?

Super cute wreath made from a hanger and burlap pieces...

 Monogrammed burlap stockings...

 Adorable table runner...

Perfect chair pillow...
And my personal favorite, wine bags! I honestly cannot remember where I found this photo. But from just looking a it, you can see how simple it is to re-create. I decided to make one for my sister who will be turning 21 in less than two weeks! This project was so quick and easy, even Seth commented on it being my quickest craft yet!

First, I cut two pieces of burlap about 6 inches wide and 12 inches tall. Then I put them together and sewed the edges, leaving an opening at the top. I used the ribbon width to mark where to cut slits to weave the ribbon. You could just as easily wrap it around the outside if you'd rather. Finally, I turned it rightside out and ran the ribbon through the cuts. To top it off I printed off her monogram and hot glued it to the wine bag.

Ta da! Don't you just love it? Now you know why I was so anxious to get that burlap (for 50 cents, what a steal!). You could do this with any cute fabric and ribbon. Perfect for a hostess gift to have on hand and just personalize last minute!

Trash to Treasure

Saturday I had the pleasure of attending (and working) Bag-A-Bargain for Junior League. Basically a giant, crazy yard-sale. To be honest, I was quite overwhelmed with all the sections and stuff. I only walked away with a few purchases. Sorry to disappoint all of you that thought I would find lots of material for craft projects or transformations.

Candle holders, a big back of corks, burlap fabric, and some cute invitations. Nothing too exciting but I only spent $4 so not too bad.

I've been looking for some candlesticks for the bookshelf in our bedroom, I think they work perfect here!

A great investment if you ask me :)

Spring place setting with burlap tied napkins

Candle and cork centerpiece for our spring table!

I have a great project coming up with the burlap fabric if I can find some time! Hopefully in the next few days!!!

I've been featured!!!

I'm not even sure if that's the right word for it BUT Check it out!

I just love Tatertos & Jello! Jen blogs about crafts and decorating and has a huge following! So to be even mentioned on here is pretty much amazing! She linked up with my latest project - The Pallet Shelf! There are lots of other great ideas too, many of which I intend to try!!!

Silk Flowers

This idea was actually spurred from my flower magnets! A friend contacted me and asked me to make fabric flowers for her wedding. After looking at her inspiration board, these were born. All you need is a satinish fabric (I used poly satin) and buttons. I cut the fabric into different sized circles. Then used a flame from a candle to burn and curl the edges. Stack them from large to small and sew them together with a button! Simple as that! Then I hot glued them to some fake flower stems! Viola!

Now onto the wedding bouquet!

Skid Pallet Shelf

I was working in Market Square one morning and stopped in Bliss and saw the cutest display (as if everything in that store isn't adorable). It was a shelf made out of a skid pallet just like you see at Home Depot or tossed behind any retail strip mall. It had hooks to hang paintings. So of course I modified the concept and created a shelf for myself. First, I had to find the right pallet - pulled over while driving a few times in attempt to find one intact or not covered in mud. If I was still in my explorer, the mud probably wouldn't have stopped me!

FINALLY, I found the perfect one - a half size sitting outside at a new business construction site.

I added a thin coat of paint. It was such a little amount, I just got a sample from Home Depot (or Home Death Pit as Seth called it as a child).

Testing it out on our bathroom wall!

All decorated!
Just love it! The picture doesn't do it justice! The hardest (and most expensive) part about this project was trying to figure out how to hang it! It really was so easy and cheap -

The pallet - FREE
Paint - $3.00
Wall mounts - $10.00
$13.00 total, not bad!

These pallets are everywhere and it's so unique! I'll do a breakdown of the little projects on the shelf later this week! Hope you like it!
