More about couponing

I never imagined that there would be so many comments about my discovery of a couponing website. So I thought I should share some more information that came my way. In attempt to start my coupon craze, I found a deal on Southern Savers at Walgreens and headed to the store to test it out. After searching the aisles for the deals, I struck up conversation with a lady doing the same. I explained to her this is my first time stacking coupons. Twenty minutes later I walked away with loads of new tips and even more excitment about my couponing journey. She started couponing less than a year ago and has saved over $2000 that she has kept track! WOW! Then, I proceeded to checkout at the cosmetic counter. She told me it's the best place to go if you have coupons so people behind you in line don't get mad. All in all I paid right at $5 for 2 rolls of wrapping paper, 6 packs of tissue paper and a finger nail polish. Then, I got $12 back in Walgreens bucks to use on whatever. It's almost like I got paid to go shopping! I cannot wait to lok at all the Sunday ads and coupons to get started for this week!

Anyway, lady (we didn't exchange names) told me about her favorite deals site where she learned everything - Faithful Provisions. They do tons of updates throughout the day and even feature internet savings. It really is a great site and based out of Nashville. Check it out. More to come after my coupon workshop in January!

Coupon Queen

For those of you that know me, you know I love coupons. I always have coupon books for stores, restaurants, and entertainment. Seth and I even started subscribing to the Sunday paper just to get the coupons so I could quit stealing them from my aunt every week. Well, last night at dinner, a friend told me about her coupon QUEEN of a sister and some of her secret tricks. She has a $150 a month grocery budget for her and her husband AND has money left over at the end of the month. I spend almost that in a week! She told me about the website where she learned it all – Southern Savers.

Once I started reading, I could not stop. This site is full of information about saving money. It’s actually a little overwhelming. So I decided to check out the workshops and wouldn’t you know it, they have one in Knoxville coming up (2 actually)! I am definitely going! I know this seems a tad corny for a 23 year old but who doesn’t want a little, or a lot, of extra cash to spend on other things than papertowels, toothpaste, and milk. Let me know if you want to go, too! I cannot wait!!!

Spirited Art

SO there is this great new place in Knoxville! Ladies, you have to go! I went last night with some girlfriends and it is so much fun! It's called Spirited Art and is on Kingston next to Wokhay! Basically, you drink wine and paint! You pick a painting you want to do and the instructor tells you step-by-step how to do it! Did I mention you get to drink wine and it's a blast? Here's how are night went...

The necessities: paint palette, blank canvas and easel, water cup, brushes, and of course, wine. Everything is provided by Spirited Art, except your beverage of choice.

Micah and Alissa painting the night away!

The four of us waiting on the next step - the leaves!

Krista putting on the finishing touches. Just one last leaf!

Voila! Our beautiful fall paintings!

Up close and personal!

All day I've been thinking about how much fun this was. We are going to make it a regular occurrence if anyone wants to join! Lis requested going back for a Christmas painting, which they do lots! Cannot wait until next time!

Pumpkin Dip Recipe

Of all the delicious foods at Berk's shower, there was a pumpkin dip that was a hit with everyone. And, I love me some pumpkin! It was served with apples and gingersnaps. It had a sweetness to it that almost made it a dessert! So festive for this time of year! Cheryl, the PC representative, game me the recipe and it is so easy!

1 (8oz) pkg cream cheese
2 cups confectioners' sugar
1 (15oz) can of pumpkin
1 tbsp cinnamon

Blend cream cheese and confectioners' sugar until smooth. Gradually mix in the pumpkin. Stir in cinnamon. Chill until serving. Serve with apples or gingersnaps. I've had something similar with Cinnamon Stacy's chips! Yummm! So easy and makes a TON! Enjoy!

Pampered Chef Bridal Shower

Today I had the pleasure of making the trip to Bristol for a Pampered Chef Party/Bridal Shower for one of my very best friends, Berkley. The decorations, food, and company was wonderful! This idea for a shower is so unique and fun! Not to mention PC has some great products if you like to cook! I did have to get a little something for myself, too!

Berkley picked out some items from PC before everyone arrived and had them hanging on this little tree so people could pick them out and purchase them for her. Just like a registry!

During the food and product demonstration, Berk had to decorate a little bride cake to look like her wedding dress. A little sneak peek of her dress for everyone!

There were all sorts of delicious foods, these little banana pudding cups were one of my favorites.

Berk's mom, Judy, has the best Christmas decorations (really decorations in general). Their amazing tree!!!

Just one of their cute little hearths!

Their table setting! All their Christmas decorations and the music has me so excited about the Holidays!

Berk with some her bridesmaids! Cannot wait til her big day - May 21st, 2012!!

Love you Berk!
